Recruiting The Next Generation of AEC Marketers

There is no university curriculum or formal pathway to attract students into our profession. This session will discuss the journey promoting the marketing/proposal profession as an intentional career path and choice. You’ll leave with actionable tips for reaching out to universities, introducing the profession to marketing students and professionals, and how to recruit and hire interns, grads and current marketers for your organization. In this program, you will learn about:

      • Creating a professional network and relationship with universities to recruit students/grads.
      • How to introduce the profession to marketing students and professionals.
      • How to recruit and hire interns, new grads, and current marketers.

Krystn Macomber, CP APMP, LEED AP

Krystn has more than 18 years of experience in various marketing and pursuit roles within the architecture/engineering/construction (AEC) industry. Her career has been dedicated to developing and implementing holistic marketing, sales, and pursuit processes that align with best practices and win work. Using these, she has successfully led multi-million-dollar pursuits by working with capture teams to develop client-focused win strategies throughout the sales lifecycle. Krystn serves as the regional marketing manager for Burns & McDonnell’s California operations where she is responsible for strategic marketing and pursuit efforts across the state. She is currently the Chair of the Association of Proposal Management Professionals (APMP), a 10,300-member global association for winning business professionals. In 2018, Krystn was selected as the APMP Bid & Proposal Industry Executive of the Year and recognized as an APMP Fellow, the association’s highest honor.




Evelin Gutierrez, CF APMP

Evelin has three years of experience working as a proposal professional within the architecture/engineering/construction (AEC) industry. She currently works at Burns & McDonnell leading and assisting strategic pursuit efforts in California. She is passionate about her profession and dedicated to sharing her journey with up-and-coming professionals and college students who may be interested in the marketing/proposal career path. Evelin is currently a member of the Association of Proposal Management Professionals (APMP) Intentional Career Path (ICP) Committee and on the California chapter board of directors as the ICP lead.
