SMPS New Mexico Build Business Raffle Results

Congratulations to David Wilson of Souder Miller and Associates.

David is the winner of the SMPS New Mexico Build Business 2019 raffle. As winner of the raffle, David will receive one (1) complementary registration for Build Business 2019. David will join his peers in Washington, D.C. to find out what's next for marketing and business development in teh A/E/C industries.

Hosted by the Society for Marketing Professional Services (SMPS), Build Business is the premier business development, marketing, and management conference for design and building industry professionals.

Happy Holidays From SMPS New Mexico

Is it just me, or did that year go by really quickly?! Here we are in December, finishing 2018 reports and prepping our 2019 strategies. As you enter the New Year remember your SMPS community and the resources we have to offer. Reach out to the New Mexico membership or tap into the national network of AEC professionals, our dedicated membership is always eager to lend a hand or help develop an idea.

In keeping with our Chapter goals to better Connect and Educate our membership, we have a few events coming up that I’d like to draw your attention to:

January 9th is our Appreciation Mixer. This FREE networking events is our way of saying thank you to all the firms who continue to support the New Mexico Chapter through sponsorships and memberships. Please RSVP.

Marketing Skills Bootcamp Series!

  • First: Core – Proposals, full-day workout focusing on InDesign and the Adobe Creative Suite uses and integration. Scheduled Tuesday, Jan 22nd

  • Second: Cardio – Interviews, full-day workout focusing on presentation messaging and coaching the interview prep. Scheduled Tuesday, April 23rd

  • Third: Strength and Cool Down – Social Media, full-day workout focusing on approaches to setting calendars, streamlining your publishing, and an overview of analytics and what they mean. Scheduled Tuesday, June 19th

Q4 President's Message

Welcome to the SMPS New Mexico 2018-2019 Term!

For those of you I haven’t met, my name is Megan Mickey. I am the Director of Marketing and Business Development at Studio Southwest Architects and I am PUMPED to be your new Chapter President! This year marks the beginning of a new society brand, a simplified vision: Business Transformed through Marketing Leadership, and a fresh Board of Directors who are eager to inspire the New Mexico membership.

Last month the incoming Board held a strategy session to identify ways the Chapter can better Connect, Advocate, and Educate our local membership. We came up with some great ideas including opportunities for:

  • peer learning and mentorship,
  • ways to connect outside of the lunch programs,
  • skill development workshops, and more.

We will also focus on Elevating your SMPS Experience. There is a vast library of Marketing and BD resources at your fingertips! Resources that can help you position your firm for success and tools that can help advance your career. We want to make sure you know what these resources are and where they live on the mySMPS website. If you’re asking “What’s mySMPS?” you’re going to love what we have planned this years…

Get the most out of your membership by joining a committee. Seriously, the more you participate the more benefit you receive. We’re looking for help with ALL Committees so please reach out to me or any of our Board/Committee members.

The relationships formed through Chapter participation become more than just business contacts. We are each other’s greatest sources of strength and resource in this crazy world of A/E/C marketing. I have found tremendous benefit from the SMPS society and truly look forward to leading the Chapter this year.

So, whether you’re looking to develop a strategic plan, increase your interview win rate, strengthen your business development efforts, gain additional skills for your repertoire or just find support for the stresses of proposal deadlines, you’ll find it with SMPS New Mexico!
